Today Is Energy Efficiency Day [The Easiest Way to Save Is Your Lighting]
After serving in the U.S. Marine Corps, I worked for a defense contractor that asked us to find ways to save energy.
It didn’t take a rocket scientist to spot — high-wattage lights on for hours, a hangar door open to the outside that put a strain on HVAC, and other common practices that sent money right out the door.
I set out to learn everything I could about LED lighting, and that formed the heart of what became Veteran LED Lighting and Energy Design.
Our team walks the energy efficiency walk every day. But it’s always good to step back and think about why we do what we do. We join our colleagues and industry leaders in marking Oct. 7 as Energy Efficiency Day.
There’s a lot of talk about our energy future and building a stronger Virginia economy. I’ll be participating in some events, and hope you’ll check out:
TheVirginia Clean Energy Summit, which returns Oct. 20-21. There are sessions on business, technology and policy. I look forward to serving on a panel, “Empowering Consumers: More Tools, More Options,” where I’ll discuss Germicidal UV Lighting, filtration and HVAC.
I’ll be joiningChelsea Harnish, executive director of the Virginia Energy Efficiency Council, in an Energy Efficiency Webinar set for Oct. 28, brought to you byLynhaven River Now.
